Bridesmaids Ask Brunch by Melissa Baum Events

It is finally time to blog about this event that is near and dear to my heart.

If you did not catch the Style Me Pretty feature, click here to see their lovely write up about the event. I am still in disbelief and overjoyed that they chose to feature my party on their blog. Since weddings have been in my life, so has Style Me Pretty.

Here is my take on the event…

From before I even got engaged, I knew I wanted to ask my girls to be my bridesmaids in a special way. I think this is an aspect of the wedding that is not celebrated enough and the feeling of being chosen and honoured by someone you love is so special and touching. I had always seen images of cards that other brides have made to ask their bridal party but I knew I needed to do something more. I wanted to be able to write a special message that a card would communicate but coupled with a keepsake. I thought to create custom jewelry boxes that would enclose a special note from me and custom bridesmaids rules. The box could then hold jewelry and other accessories for years to come. I am big into lucite these days so I knew I wanted to box to be lucite. With that in mind, I went to Deb at PALETTERA Custom Correspondences as I knew she could bring my vision to life. Together, Deb and I worked on designing the custom boxes each with the girl’s name adhered to the front. Each girl’s box had a different pattern in the background that matched their personality. Inside the box featured a personalized note and a bridesmaids rule mini booklet. The result far exceeded any expectations I had for these!

Once the boxes were made, I knew I couldn’t simply hand these out. I arranged for everyone to meet for brunch at Wish Cafe. The boxes marked each girl’s place setting. The brunch was accessorized with gorgeous coral, tangerine and pink flowers to match the colour palette of the boxes. For dessert and decor, I ordered custom pink donuts and mini cakes from Truffle Toronto. These were a huge hit! The girls arrived to brunch, took their seat and all together began opening the boxes. Each took the time to read their notes and the rules and of course, say yes to the inevitable question! After that, we helped ourselves to an all girls photoshoot and eventually made our way to ordering food. Inside each of the menus, I placed a “wish” list (fitting as the name of the restaurant is Wish Cafe) which highlighted all my favourite brunch items. The food was delicious especially the challah french toast accompanied with the most adorable personal bottle of maple syrup.

I cannot even express how ecstatic the girls were with the boxes and event as a whole. They were touched, surprised and excited to be my bridesmaids and I think the wedding hooplah is starting on a positive note. I definitely want to encourage other brides that I work with to create a special event or item to give their bridesmaids-to-be to commemorate this honour.

Big thank you to Heidi Lau for capturing this event!
