M&S | Garden Glamour E-session

M&S | Garden Glamour E-session

When thinking about engagement pictures, jeans and t-shirts usually come to mind. I wanted to break away from the mold and do something out of the box and inspiring. In addition, as the wedding will be high glam and more urban, the engagement pictures were intended to feel the exact opposite.

Phrases such as "garden glamour" and "bohemian" came to mind and that was the jumping off point. The setting was to be rural and filled with lush greens, tall weeds and overgrown fields. Toogood Pond Park in Markham, Ontario was the ideal setting. I must thank my amazing photographer Gillian of Ikonica for finding this gem.

I wanted to ensure the shoot did not embody the "hippie boho" vibe as that is so not us. As much as I wanted the shoot to feel editorial and fantasy-like, I wanted it to be a reflection of our personalities. Shooting...

Harper’s Baby Naming by Melissa Baum Events

Harper’s Baby Naming by Melissa Baum Events

A baby naming differs from a baby shower in that the baby is already born.
This is common in the Jewish tradition. Typically, a ceremony occurs where the baby girl is officially given her English and Hebrew name and a luncheon or reception follows.

For this baby naming, our vision was for a soft, delicate room filled with blush and gold details. The centerpiece of the room was the dessert table filled with blush and gold cakes, cupcakes, macarons, cookies and custom popcorn boxes.  Bo&Bon is to thank for the gorgeous sweets.  The dessert table was draped in gorgeous blush linens with a gold embroidered overlay provided by Have A Seat. Surrounding the table were custom 3 foot balloons adorned with the baby's name. This logo was used on the napkins as well.

The centerpieces were full and lush hydrangeas and roses situated in a...

Real Wedding | Lisa and Zane

Real Wedding | Lisa and Zane

October 1, 2013 | Real Wedding, Toronto, Weddings | No Comments

Lisa and Zane's relationship is representative of every family's dream. Their mothers are best friends, Lisa and Zane's sister are best friends - it seems as if their families were planning this since birth. Who wouldn't want their in-laws to be people they know and love?

They knew each other for years through their families but only started to date once Lisa was 19. Lisa was in London, Ontario while Zane was back in Toronto but that didn't stop these two from being together and falling in love.

Very few people are lucky enough to have their family and in-laws as close as these two families are.  And finally, in December 2012, these two families officially became one when Lisa and Zane tied the knot at Beth Emeth Synagogue.

Lisa had the bridal glow like I have never seen. She looked radiant in...

Real Wedding | Sarah and Matthew

Real Wedding | Sarah and Matthew

September 26, 2013 | Weddings | 1 Comment

After hearing about Sarah and Matthew's pasts, it is shocking it took so long for these soulmates to meet. They both grew up in the same neighbourhood, attended the same summer camp, had similar family rituals and even attended the same school throughout elementary and high school. How is it even possible these two never crossed paths?!

The two finally met at a party when Sarah's step-brother invited Matthew. They finally met and chatted but neither showed interest. It took yet another party that summer, where the two spoke again and a spark finally went off. Matthew was the ultimate gentlemen - offering Sarah his sweater as the evening was chilly and asking for her number after they had great conversation. The summer drew on and the two dated. After a few short weeks of this new relationship, they had to make the decision whether or not to...

Real Wedding | Yael and Michael

Real Wedding | Yael and Michael

September 25, 2013 | Weddings | 2 Comments

The bride and I have been going back and forth for months in anticipation of me featuring her wedding on my blog. I am so glad I finally got my hands on the photos because this bride was truly a vision.

Yael and her handsome groom Michael met at York University. These two were smitten with each other almost immediately and made their love official when they tied the knot last August at the Terrace.

As I mentioned earlier, Yael was a spectacular bride. Her custom Monique Lhuillier gown and Jimmy Choo shoes kept her looking gorgeous on the big day. Antonella Marzielle and Maureen Greenstein on hair and makeup completed the look.

Karen Garscadden was in charge and commissioned Paras Mehta of Design2Decor to transform the room with tall, cascading centerpieces and a beautiful mechitza. Hudson Taylor and Wayne Kertz captured the...

Bridesmaids Ask Brunch by Melissa Baum Events

Bridesmaids Ask Brunch by Melissa Baum Events

It is finally time to blog about this event that is near and dear to my heart.

If you did not catch the Style Me Pretty feature, click here to see their lovely write up about the event. I am still in disbelief and overjoyed that they chose to feature my party on their blog. Since weddings have been in my life, so has Style Me Pretty.

Here is my take on the event...

From before I even got engaged, I knew I wanted to ask my girls to be my bridesmaids in a special way. I think this is an aspect of the wedding that is not celebrated enough and the feeling of being chosen and honoured by someone you love is so special and touching. I had always seen images of cards that other brides have made to ask their...
